Inter-Island Football Heats Up!

The 1st annual U9 Inter-Island grassroots football festival occurred at the TCIFA National Academy in Providenciales on the morning of April 29th. The tournament saw teams from the Grand Turk, South Caicos, North/Middle Caicos and Providenciales Programmes. TCIFA Head Youth Coaching Development Officer, Olivia Graveley, expressed that “this tournament will build on the FA’s existing work to offer players a year-round curriculum of competitive tournaments. We intend to offer this opportunity to all age groups within the grassroots programmes; namely U9, U11, U13.”

The tournament was staged in a round robin format, where each team was guaranteed to play against every team at least once, and left each game with a minimum of one point. Securing first place in the girls competition was South Caicos, followed by Providenciales, and North/Middle Caicos respectively. Securing first place in the boys competition was North Caicos, followed by Providenciales Blue, with Providenciales White and Grey tied in 3rd place.
