TCIFA Launches Third Season Of The Fortis TCI Youth League, Providenciales
After the huge success of the 2018 Fortis Youth Leagues held across the various Islands, Fortis TCI continues to work with the Turks & Caicos Islands Football Assocation (TCIFA) to support the youth development football programmes in the Turks & Caicos Islands. Over 100 players celebrated the return and opening of the Fortis TCI youth league in Providenciales on Saturday, March 22nd. As part of the opening festivities, the event featured a uniform parade of six teams; Transformer Hotspurs FC, Electric Blazer FC, Power Munich FC, Lightening City FC, Electric Madrid, and Spark FC. It continued with an opening ceremony, group scrimmage matches and aptly named interactive competitions (Speed Circuit/ Voltameter, Circuit Breaker, Surge Protector, and Power Penalty). It is anticipated that 200+ players are expected to join the Providenciales version of the league.
Ruth Forbes, Senior Vice President of Fortis, commented, “I cant help but feel it’s only getting better and better. I am happy to see that so many boys and girls here today are eager to take on the competition of this season. Indeed their excitement and enthusiasm are certainly contagious, and their interest in this game is very clear for us to see. When we first launched the league in 2017, we were convinced back then, as we are today, that sponsoring the first competitive youth football league in the Turks & Caicos Islands would be a great investment in the future of our boys and girls. We knew then that this league would be a great outlet for their creativity and energy, and it would help them to express their love for the beautiful game; and we still believe it. We’ve seen this week after week for the past two seasons. We also realize that in sponsoring the league, we are assisting the TCIFA to fulfill its commitment to developing youth football across the TCI. This is what we call a win-win.”
The League provides an environment for youth players to develop and grow through football, providing the highest quality of local competition for players in the Under 9 to Under 13 age groups.
The League will commence in the sister Islands with opening ceremonies slated for the following dates and times:
Grand Turk, Parade Grounds- Tuesday, April 2, 3:15pm
South Caicos, Iris Stubbs Primary School- Wednesday, April 3, 3:15pm
North/Middle Caicos, Raymond Gardiner High School- Friday April 5, 3:15pm
