The Cayman Islands Football Association’s Under 14 girls and Under 15 boys were invited to the Turks & Caicos Islands to participate in an Invitational Tournament at the TCIFA National Academy. On May 11-12, 2019 four teams gathered for a football festival that would showcase a range of talents from across the TCIFA youth development football programmes. Players from the sister islands were chosen to participate in this tournament, which also provided preparation for the upcoming CFU Girls Under 14 Tournament, and Concacaf Boys Under 15 Tournament in the Summer of 2019. All teams played a total of three matches before a well attended and receptive group of spectators.

The two-day event was a huge success, with special visits from HE The Governor Dr. John Freeman CMG, Minister of Health, Sports, Agriculture, and Human Services Hon. Edwin Astwood, and Director of Sports Mr. Jarette Forbes.

Reflecting on the Tournament, the President of the TCIFA, Sonia Fulford, indicated that “whilst the Cayman Island Teams were successful in most of the games, this Youth Invitational Tournament is one of the many ways we prepare our young players for the challenges ahead. The response from our local community and those willing to travel here for this competition were overwhelming. There is no question that this tournament sets the pace for future youth tournaments here at the TCIFA. We are hoping to host another during the course of this year, with the help of our corporate community, as we look forward to years of quality development, competition and the creation of playing opportunities for our young players”.
