The Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association is delighted to announce the appointment of Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force retiree, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ira Baptiste, as the new President of the Men’s Provo Premier League (PPL). Mr. Baptiste replaced Victor Lowe whose work commitments prevented him from continuing in this role. Mr. Baptiste a former player in TCI’s top tier Men’s League, brings with him an immense passion for football and fantastic leadership to this role.

As PPL President, Baptiste will be responsible for all the operational aspects of the league. He will manage the day-to-day decisions and work in partnership with the TCIFA to ensure that the clubs meet the goals of the league. In addition, he will oversee all participating volunteers.

“There is much to celebrate in this season for the Men’s League,” said TCIFA President Sonia Fulford. “Return to play for the PPL, the sharing of our vision for the future of our more vibrant, professional league, and now the welcoming of Mr. Baptiste into the role of President of the PPL. We are all excited to work with him and I know the energy he will bring to the role will have a hugely positive impact cross the league. We look forward to the new perspectives he will bring to our team, which we welcome as we focus on driving growth across our increasingly broadening platform.”

In commenting on his appointment, Baptiste said, “I am excited to assume the role of President of the PPL. To work with TCIFA and its fantastic support team is an exciting prospect for any avid follower and lover of the beautiful game. The established football setup, together with a passionate and loyal stakeholder base makes for an unparalleled opportunity that I am delighted to seize with both hands. I am anxiously looking forward to my first season as a strong and successful Premier League is part of the critical foundation from which the sport of football will flourish”.

The PPL is expected to return on April, 2021. Matches will be played at the TCIFA National Academy. Covid-19 protocol will be strictly enforced.
