Ancie Bernadin Accepted To 2022 FIFA Refereeing International List

The Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association wishes to extend warm congratulations to Ancie Bernadin, Female Assistant Referee, on her appointment to the 2022 FIFA Refereeing International List.

Ancie Bernadin, a teacher by profession, joined the Turks and Caicos Islands Referee’s Association in 2018, with much enthusiasm and determination. Her small goals soon turned into big achievements as she landed multiple international refereeing opportunities within the Caribbean region. Her most recent appointment saw her officiating in the CFU Boys U14 and Girls U14 Challenge Series and had the honor of being seleced to officiate in the Tier 1 Girls Finals.

Bernadin was recently nominated by the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association for consideration to the FIFA Refereeing International List. Nominees must pass a FIFA approved Fitness Test conducted by a qualified fitness instructor. This test consists of two parts; a repeated sprint ability (RSA) test which measures the referee’s ability to perform repeated sprints over 40m, and an interval test which evaluates the referee’s capacity to perform a series of high-speed runs over 75m interspersed with 25m walking intervals. The time between the two tests are 6-8 minutes maximum. Additionally, nominees must pass a medical examination. Each candidate is then ranked based on the marks obtained for officiating national level matches during the 12 months prior to being nominated to the list of international referees.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association for their confidence in me. Our head of referees Ms. Patrice Senior, and Technical Instructor Mr. Dane Ritchie, have been a great support. There have been many other persons who have played a role in my personal development as it relates to refereeing; I thank them as well. It is an honor and privilege to serve in the capacity as FIFA Female Assistant Referee. I look forward to beginning this grand new adventure, as I promise to work hard and maintain the confidence and trust that Turks and Caicos has shown in me.”

TCIFA’s President Sonia Fulford congratulated Ms. Bernadin on her elevation to the FIFA list. “This achievement is a result of dedication and commitment. Ancie came up through our program and was part of the Women’s Program during her teenage years. It is refreshing to see her transition to officiating and we are confident that she will represent us well on the world football stage”.
