Inspector Sabuton John

FIFA's proactive efforts in combating match manipulation are prominently exemplified by its collaboration with the Asian Football Confederation and the Football Association of Singapore. A pivotal aspect of their dedication involves imparting education and training to players, referees, and integrity officers. Notably, FIFA launched the inaugural FIFA Integrity Summit in Singapore on April 4-5, 2024. The summit convened distinguished speakers from FIFA, CAS, and experts engaged in the battle against match-fixing, fostering a platform for knowledge exchange. This summit serves to provide integrity officers with updates on global integrity trends, share best practices, introduce the new FIFA Integrity Handbook and Education Roadmap, and delve into significant decisions made by FIFA and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding match manipulation.

FIFA remains resolute in its mission to combat match manipulation by implementing specialized integrity programs in close collaboration with its member associations. This approach entails a detailed roadmap that prioritizes issue identification, preventive measures, regulatory frameworks, and professional investigations, further strengthened by cooperation with law enforcement agencies. In alignment with its core objectives, FIFA supports its member associations by facilitating a network of 211 integrity officers and extending assistance through the FIFA Forward 3.0 Programme.

The holistic strategy employed by FIFA, underpinned by specialized integrity programs and partnerships with law enforcement entities, underscores the organization's steadfast commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the sport. FIFA's unwavering resolve to penalize any misconduct that jeopardizes the game's integrity underscores its unwavering dedication to upholding the principles of fair play and sportsmanship.

Sabuton John's unique blend of expertise in football and law enforcement has positioned him as a key figure at the Turks And Caicos Islands Football Association. As the Integrity Officer, he ensures that all matches, both locally and internationally, adhere to the highest standards of fairness and sportsmanship. Simultaneously, his role as an inspector in the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force showcases his commitment to upholding law and order in the community. His dedication to justice and his unwavering sense of duty have earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the residents of the islands alike. With a keen eye for detail and a strong moral compass, he navigates the complexities of problem-solving with precision and integrity. His presence is reassuring, his actions decisive, making him a beacon of hope in times of uncertainty- a protector of peace and a guardian of the community he serves. With a wealth of experience in both fields, Sabuton John's dedication and passion shine through in all aspects of his work, making him an invaluable asset to both organizations. Additionally, Sabuton John's involvement as a match commissioner in the local Women's and Men's Premier leagues further showcases his dedication to supporting and promoting football at all levels.

John, who is present at the inaugural summit commented, “I deem it a privilege, honour; and I'm very humble to represent the TCIFA at the first integrity summit. The information learned, the experience gained, and the partnerships formed will help the TCIFA, CFU, CONCACAF and FIFA in general, to eradicate match fixing, crime and corruption in football at every level- despite our member association being one of the smallest compared to other countries around the world. Through education and training, much can be achieved in fostering the right culture for the sport of football in the TCI. Thanks to the TCIFA and especially General Secretary Oliver Smith for appointing me, and having the confidence that I can deliver in this role, in the near future.”
