Candia Ewing Selected for FIFA’s Women in Football Leadership Programme

Candia Ewing, Acting General Secretary of the Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA), has been selected as one of 25 women from around the world to participate in the third cohort of FIFA’s Women in Football Leadership Programme, marking an important new chapter in her journey within the sport.

With more than 12 years of experience in football, Ewing’s selection represents an opportunity to build on her professional experience, strengthen her leadership capacity, and gain new perspectives that can contribute to the continued development of football in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

The six-month programme brings together women from across the global football community to develop their leadership skills, exchange experiences, and learn from one another. The programme combines virtual learning, in-person sessions, individual coaching, and peer coaching, creating opportunities for participants to reflect on their leadership values, approaches and explore ways to navigate the challenges of leading within the sport.

Ewing recently completed the programme’s first face-to-face sessions in Rabat, Morocco, held alongside the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The sessions brought participants together to begin their shared learning journey, connect with fellow leaders from different football environments, and explore the experiences and perspectives that shape their leadership.

The programme’s learning experience is supported by the Center for Creative Learning (CCL), with an emphasis on leadership development, personal reflection, coaching, and learning through engagement with others. Participants are encouraged to examine their leadership styles, learn from different perspectives, and develop practical approaches that can be applied within their organisations and the wider football community.

For Ewing, the opportunity is both a professional milestone and a chance to bring fresh insight into her work at the TCIFA. As football continues to evolve, developing strong leadership within the sport remains important to building effective organisations, supporting those who work within them, and creating meaningful opportunities for players and communities.

As she progresses through the programme, Ewing will continue to build on her experience while learning alongside women who are contributing to football in different parts of the world. The experience offers an opportunity to broaden her perspective, strengthen her approach to leadership, and bring the benefits of that learning back to the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Her selection reflects not only the experience she brings to the programme, but also a commitment to continued growth and to making a meaningful contribution to the future of football at home and beyond.
